Fruit of the Loom Cornucopia
Many people remember the Fruit of the Loom logo featuring a cornucopia (horn of plenty) behind the fruit, but no official version of the logo has ever included one.
The Memory
The logo had a brown wicker cornucopia/basket behind the pile of fruit. It was as much a part of the logo as the fruit itself.
Current Reality
Fruit of the Loom's official logo history shows no cornucopia in any version. The company has confirmed this. However, a 1973 trademark application description mentions the fruit arrangement in a way some interpret as referencing a cornucopia shape.
Significance
Unusual because the remembered element (cornucopia) is so specific and so widely reported. Multiple independent surveys confirm 80%+ recall rate for the non-existent cornucopia.
